Male And Feamle Ram Pair

Hi I got a female ram 2 days ago and I had a mature male thats has been in the tank for about one year. He follows her everywhere and chases her slowly... It seems that he is bugging her by putting his mouth on her and then either shoving her biting her or blowing water on her. There is not any physical harm. I don't think that they are pairing up but when a angelfish hobbles of slowly he will protect her if the angel will charge. The female has a pink belly but does this always mean that she is a 'ripe' female. The female is about 1/3 of the males size... I tried to donate the angel for people here told me it wouldn't live happy but they do not take fish over four inches of size. I know for sure it is a female and the male kind of locks her in a spot and keeps her there. If they are pairing please tell me and if not... please tell me

From what you describe, it seems like the male is ready to mate. This is what my Keyhole cichlids and Bolivian Rams do (Both pairs). But if the female is 1/3 the size, I doubt she is matured and ready to mate
