The gestation period is around 8 weeks. Mollies are livebearers which means they will deliver the fry (like a human does). It is recommended to immediately remove the molly after she delivers the fry, as she will consume any she can find.

I recommend moving her to a small "holding" aquarium such as a 10 Gallon and allow her to deliver her batch, then move her back to the main aquarium. You can then care for the cry (feed etc) and watch them grow!

Hope this helps.

It's like riding a bicycle, once you get the hang of it, it's easy. Different fry species will have different care requirements, but in your case (mollies) it will be quite easy to care for them.

Please do keep us updated on your venture, we'd love to know how it turns out!

So.... I was watching for the signs that she might give birth.. I was sitting at the aquarium last night and looking... she was as big as I bought her, she didn`t square off, she didn`t have the dark point on her but (when people say that it`s the fry eyes)... So I wasn`t worried when I left town today...
What happens ir.. I get home and as usual I go check my fish... on the floating plants I see something small and yellow... I was like What?! I look at my molly and she is skinny.... so I tried to save as many fry as I could.... and as for now I/my molly is a proud momma of 6 babies... three look very light yellow ( I guess that`s from momma) and three have black spots on the sides.... now I wonder who`s the daddy... because my Mr. Molly is yellow as well...
So that`s it.... the babies have arrived! :)
