im actually not trying to but if they want it doesnt matter.my one big one got plump yesterday and im wondering if its a girl or not because they r so hard to tell apart form male or female

Well right now only some convict cichlids in a 55. But im setting up a 29 gallon, so i think im gonna try and breed platies. Never had much luck with that with the convicts :P.

i can see that ur convicts bred because it says u have a 1" fry thats great! platies are amazing good idea to breed livebearers.have u bred any other fish?

Just the convicts lol. But i only got one fry out of three batches. The first batch my male ate them all but one once they were free swimming. Two other batches my male ate them as wrigglers. A day after the third batch was eaten, i woke up to find him torn to shreds and dead. The female happy as can be :P. At this point other than a pleco they were the only to fish in the tank. Thats when i got my 55 gallon and moved it into it, bought a few female, (Theyd dint have any males at the time.) And have been looking for a larger male since, but it seems everytime i go they dont have any, so i only have a smaller male right now. :P

how old is the fry?and how did the fish end up being torn?

Irdk how old the fry is, but quite a few months. And I assume the female killed him.
