try 78-80 Degrees F artifical plants are fine. dont worry. they are just a bit more expensive. the heater will stay in the tank and turn itself on and off when it senses the water is cooling off too much. You can get a heater that tells you the temp that you set it to. Great on the pantyhoes. I dunno if you've ever used a dechlorinator. That takes out all of the bad things in the water like chlorine. IT IS A MUST!!!! Prime Dechlorinator is prolly the best that ive used its in a red and white bottle. Hope this helps...
Ok, so I am going to look at walmart, we have no other pet supply store around here, hopefully this is a good one http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3635560
And as for the chlorine thing... I have been using TetraAqua AquaSafe Water Conditioner. It is one of the things on that same page... anyway. Thanks for your help. Anything else I need to know? About how many plant should i get? Do I just rinse in hot water or boil them?
That stuff is perfect!!! like i said they might have hornwort as a live plant in their tanks for sale. (they do in iowa) But if you for sure dont want to go with that buy enough for her to feel protected and enough for her to hide... Ive always rinsed mine in really hot water but if you would be more comfortable boiling them go for it!!!
how many of what? Hornwort? You can anchor it down or let it float. Equally well they will provide cover and hornwort secretes a chemical that eliminates algae. No problem for the help either. :D I know what it is like first breeding fish and having problems. I've bread all the common livebearers (guppy, molly, platy, swordtail) nw i have moved on to Flame Tetras and Gouramis. :D Frustrating to say the least.
believe me this wasn't the plan.... I 'rescued' the tank from a friend who was moving and didn't have room to take it, and all her fish died, I bought more had one litter (?) all but these two died, and they are all I have had for months now.... hopeing this litter (?) will live at least a couple!!
alright found out about the white stringy stuff... it is pretty normal. apparenly they are egg capsules and possibly stored sperm. My Molly is doing the same thing now... She's doing fine... Also you never told me how long you have had your molly's.
sorry, I have to work full time, don't get to 'play' online often! lol. ANyway, had the mollies almost a year I think... not sure really... but I still don't see any babies? I don't know if the other maybe ate them? I am still watching, we shall see what happens
