I have bought female guppies before but never had any fry show up but 4 days ago I decided to buy a female guppy as a friend for a Betta in a five gallon tank and today I noticed about 7 fry swimming around and I was stunned, so how should I raise these guys and gals the only empty tank that I have handy is a .75 gallon can a raise a couple in this or should I let them stay in the tank about half of the five gallon is covered in hornwort so I think they will survive but I don't want more than 2 adult guppies in a 5 gallon with a Betta so can a raise a few or all of them in the .75 gallon with 50% water changes every day and 100% water changes every other day? Until they get about half an inch long then give them away to Petco or a friend with a fish tank

And should I raise that plant matter stuff that they eat and I also have bloodworms on hand or should I feed them crushed up flakes what is there diet as a baby this is the first time I have had fry and I want it to be right

Hi Fishyfriend2! I am raising fry too but I am feeding Baby Fish food. Comes in a little can at the LFS. They LOVE it! I have 12 I think, baby Mollies in a 10 Gallon. Only till they are no longer the size of a snack. They must be big enough to join my community tank of 75 Gallons, or I can always sell them to the LFS.
Do you have room for a bigger tank? Or another tank? You know they multiply just like fish do!!
Once my Swordtail drops her fry, I will take out the divider and open the whole tank back up to the full community. Ya can only keep so many babies, and they are going to keep coming!!! It will have to become survival of the fittest!

I do not have space for a bigger tank I wish I did though, and what about a breeding net in there I am getting a sponge filter in the mail soon so I can manage to double filter the 5 gallon and I might be okay If I do 25% water changes every other day, right?
Thanks for the help Jackiebabie

You can feed them crushed up flake food if you do not want them just leave them in there and the Betta will probably eat them up.They should be ok in the .75 gal for a while they are very small you could also get a rubbermade cointaner if you have some floor space

How big should they get before I take them all out

I gave my fry just under 2 months. By the time they went in the big tank they were still about 1/3 the size of adults.
As soon as their that size they will start taking adult flakes just as long as they are crushed up more than usual.
Also i wouldn't bother with a breeding net, they hate them and it stumps their growth and stresses them out. Ideally i would get them in a seperate tank, but if you don't have the means then just as long as the mother and the betta don't chase or eat them they should be fine.
i brought 9 up in an 8 litre tank for just under 2 months and they were fine with it. One of those cheap plastic ones pet shops sell for goldfish. (poor fish but they are quite handy to have) It took up very little room had it on my bedside table with a heater and sponge filter running :)
I fed them liquifry number 2 and also tetrababy min flake food :)

I'd leave them in the tank because I think a few may survive... it doesn't sound like you have room to really be breeding the fish. Less than 1 gallon is not very big at all and if it'd work at all it'd hold like 1-3 babies. They need room to grow.
