help..dalmation molly babies

Hello..I am here seeking a bit of advice. I came home from work today to find out that the dalmation molly I bought a few days ago has apparently given birth, as I've found four babies swimming around. I separated them and they're now in a large kritter keeper (I'm going to see if I can get a breeding set up tomorrow). They seem healthy and active, but I just tried feeding them a bit of finely ground flakes, and they don't eat it. I've read in several places that this is fine to feed them, and that they will be wanting to eat 4-5 times a day..Why won't they eat?

I myself keep guppies, which are not that different from mollies. Since I have an abundance of guppy fry, I leave them in the main tank. Following Darwin's theory of Natural Selection, this will produce strong adult fish. I have found that you do not want to feed the baby fry that much. I only feed them about once a day with extremely finely ground fish food. My advice is to only feed them ground flakes/crisps/whatever once to two times a day (if you don't worry about some fish dying)

I LOVE FISH!! (Or at least tiger barbs, platies, catfish/plecos, and some discus)

Good news, they ate some of the powdered flake food. :) Thank you for the advice.

It is better if they don't grow fast. If they grow fast, there are more risks for deformation of the body.

I feed mine at least 3 times a day and more on weekends. Just cut the amount back with more feedings and you iwll be fine. The fry do not have much of a digestive tract so small feedings is all they can use anyway. Don't forget to do tons of water changes to keep the pollutants down.

I feed my baby fry twice a day. If you feed more the water qty will go bad and you will have to do more water changes. Have fun with your new baby fry!
