Hey all ! So I made a post a few weeks back about my angels that I thought paird off they took a side of the tank and they would scare everyone away so I put them in there own 30 gallon tank then after awhile of nothing happenening in the 30 gallong I thought I was wrong so I put them back in my 75 gallon tank with my other fish and right away my black angel went nutts chasing my white (possible male angel away) hes always picking on him chasing the white angel away stressing him out badly the black angels papilia is out and the stomic has been bloated a week now he/she spends its time with the angel with orange on its head all the time they nip at the larger marble angel to get him away but sometimes they let him/her around I'm very confused on whats going on i thought i had a pair but now i have NO IDEA whats going on all i know is i see the black angels palpia out and it looks like my white angels a lil wider is it possible i have 2 females the white and the black? they have plenty of plants and places to lay there eggs .. should i move them into the empty 30 gallon tank ? are they even a pair?

some answers would be great thanks guys!

Take the pic. Does not need to be too close. Maybe 2 inches apart.

You can use the filter. Sponge filter is preferable as it does not suck the eggs in.

Did you prepare anything for the fry when they are ready to swim freely? :?

#55 ·
thats why i have the 10 gallon? so they can free swim in there for 3 weeks then have my 30 gallon this filter has no sucken to it. Is the airstone okay? when do i do the water changes

#57 ·
Keep checking water parameters. Do 20% water changes daily to keep consistent water quality since the fry are sensitive and redose methylene blue. Withdraw the med once they start hatching.

The airstone is fine.

Im addicted to this site i been hitting refresh every day for 15 hours a day :/ no updates wha! when i see one im like YAY hahah

woke up today HALF of the eggs are white! i saw a few last night white so i removed them with a eye dropper but this time theres to many to remove i'd probly remove some of the fertile eggs? Maybe they turned white from me moving them and all of this stuff?

#60 ·
The eggs are infertile. Redose methylene blue.

#62 ·
well they all turned white I cleaned out the tank and everything now its empty for there next spawn Ill let mom and dad get them to wiggler stage this time or maybe free swimming and have the 10 gallon reay for when they are free swimming will always update with pictures and vids when it does happen.

That sucks. Oh well...Hopefully, the next batch will have viable eggs.

#64 ·
yea they will be with mommy and daddy to take care of them this time that was a LOT of work i have my 30 gallon now a bare bottom and cleaned out tank.. where do you buy those filters that have sponge bottoms that like every seems to use with low s&h? sponge filter and slate i would like but i cant find it with out the shipping being 20.00

#65 ·
Drsfostersmith.com has sponge filters and their shipping is a flat rate of $8.99. Another one to try is bigalsonline.com.

#66 ·
thanks! I ended up buying a sponge filter from ebay only 5 bucks plus free shipping :D then for a slate i gues they will lay there eggs on anything in the breeding tank so ill save some extra money :) cant wait for the next spawn

My angels are spawning right now :D yay its been 13 days since the last spawn I really hope theses ones make it very excited over here!!

#71 ·
Heres some pics of the spawn!!!

so excited to see how far they get :D

#73 ·
8 eggs have turned white its almost been 48 hours hoping to see some wigglers soon very exciting ! :D mom and dad are just fanning them

#76 ·
Good luck! I also have a pair of Angels. The best is watching the fry start attempting to swim for the first time. Don't be alarmed when the mom and dad suck them into their mouth. They do this when the fry get too far from them but always spit them out back with the group. It's so exciting! Good luck with the fry. What do you plan on doing at this point? Move the fry to a separate tank to just keep them with the parents?

I will be letting them grow in the 10 gallon for 3 weeks without mom and dad then they will be moved to the 30 gallon tank I have to grow out more.
