German blue rams

Hi I wasn't sure where to post this but I have decided here is probably the best place sorry if it's not. Anyway I was wonderingvat about what size can they be sexes? My lfs sells them at about 1-1.5in. Also how big do they have to be before they begin to breed?

At one inch, or inch and a half,, they are able to breed ,assuming that water parameters suit them.
Males will often have longer second ray on dorsal fin.
Females will have pronounced pink to purple coloring on the belly when spawning activity is near and on more than a few females I have kept, there will be bright blue irredecent spangle inside the black spot on the sides of the fish while the bright blue spangle will remain around the edges of the black spot on males.
With the gold variety ,, it is much more difficult to sex them in my opinion but females, like the blue variety,,, will often have pinkish hue to the belly when spawning is near.
While an increasing number of these fish are able to thrive in possibly moderately hard water ,,the vast majority of successful spawns occur in soft acidic water with pH not much above 6.8 and temperature between 82 and 86 degrees F.
