Sad :( not many left this morning. Parents must have been eating them. Oh well! Learning experience and they did GREAT in my opinion for a brand new breeding pair :)

I will keep updating their progress on this same thread when they spawn again.

Thanks for all the info so far!

Also next spawning I'm going to replace the HOB with an ATI hydro sponge filter, thats what all the pros use lol

There is no need to change the filter. Get a prefilter sponge and add it to the filter intake tube enough to cover the openings. Be sure to rinse it out in old tank water every week or 2 so it doesn't clog up and slow down the filtration rate. I keep sponges on most of my filter intakes.

If you're prepping for the next spawn be quick about it. It won't be long before they start again. My unsuccessful pair has increased how often they lay eggs now... only a day or 2 after losing a spawn. They are really trying hard to succeed. My attempt to catch and remove the cherry barbs from their tank in between spawns has so far been unsuccessful because they spawn again too quickly. I think their primary problem at present is the ram's horn snails feasting on the eggs while they sit by and watch, feeling helpless to stop it. I knock the snails off or pick them out every chance I get, however, I can't observe the tank 24/7. Right now they have their 3rd batch of wigglers in less than 2 wks.

Keep us posted, and I will continue to offer any assistance I can.
