Eggs hatched !!

I got up this morning and they were still eggs,I went to walmart to buy another filter, I was installing the new filter and thought I'd peek in and they were all just a wigglin'. I now have the old filter 5-15gal,and the new filter 20-40gallon.the big one is pumping bottom water and the smaller one is taking care of the upper water.




I have taken at least 20 of these pics. Papa gets between me and the fry.I usually have to wait for him to circle around the nest to snap a pic.

yeah!! Convicts are alot more fun to breed than firemouths,I had a breeding pair of FM's.Convicts are far better parents,neater and just more cooler.I don't care if they are the second easiest fish to breed,they kick butt in my book.It is so cool to watch them.

ok,they are free swimming now.Wierd thing happened yesterday.I noticed the male was guarding well over half the clutch in a clay pot about 4 inches away from the female.The last time they spawned, she would not let him near them.He also ate some last time before I could remove him. Around dinner time, I peeked in and he had all but two in his clay pot and she was guarding the other two. I stayed and observed for a while and it turns out that he was not letting her near them this time. To add to that, when she would swim into the pot, he would bite her and drive her off. . He was promptly removed . To add to that,this morning when I fed her, the fry ball was small,too small. . I guess before I removed him, he had LOVINGLY ate over half of the fry

He also did not eat his food last night.He had a full belly of babies. This male is soooo

well,if you look at my avatar, you will see where they are going.(food).Those two piggies on my avatar are my pride and joy!!. I have put in soooo much sweat & hard work to make those Oscars happy,and to pay me back, when I clean the glass,or gravel vac, they bite their owner.
