convict cichlids

ok so i was just thinking. My convicts had babies and they all died...... so i was just wondering what to do when they had babies again. i would like to keep them and sell them to a LFS (i think that means local fish store. am i right?) i heard something about a baby cage or something like a net that u put the pregnant female in?

Congrats on getting your fish to breed - that is usually a sign of good fish keeping. I have a few questions before I can give you a decent answer:

Did your convict actually hatch into fry or were they eaten by something when they were still eggs?
What did you feed to the fry?
Are there any other fish in the tank besides the parents?

oh ya and after almost all of them died i wanted to take the small tank out of my room so i moved the remaining to the big tank and they were eaten. but i know why those died and i was now wondering how to keep them in my new tank.

so what should i do next time they are born, should i try to catch them and put them in a little hanging baby thing in the tank or provide a lot of hiding places and feed them crushed food?

You can't just crush fish food and use it for feeding newborn egg layers. They start out much smaller than a typical livebearer and you will trouble making the food small enough for them. Very small fry food is made for egg layers in a powdered form but the usual first foods for egg layers is things like infusoria, microworms or banana worms. As they get bigger, they move up to larger foods such as newly hatched brine shrimp and by the time they are a week old they will be able to take food as big as the smallest fine powder that you can make yourself from crushing adult flake food. Before that, if you have not used the much smaller foods, they will have lived a couple of days on their yolk sac and then started dying in large numbers from starvation.
