Al so you can strip her of the fry in 16 day. by puting her into a tank by her self. That day or the next few days she will release the fry then you put her back in the main tank. I use a 30 long and a lot of caves fake plants then take her out and put her in the main tank. Then net the fry and put them in the main tank in a breeder net.

Mollies...
here is the delima.... I have.....
The main tank has MANY hiding places....its a 120 gallon with live plants
and Many Rocks... so all the reading I have done actually suggests me to remove
her if I want to save as much Fry as possible... but this is EASIER SAID than DONE.....
I am not so sure I can catch her without stressing her... So I am now thinking
maybe I should just leave her be and hope as much fry survives as possible...????
I am just not so sure I can Net her.... but I will be looking for a Fry Holding Net today
hopefully one of the LPS has one in stock....

And I have noticed another thing with the Suggested Male Father.... His behavior has still
been to chase her around.... as if he wants to Fertilize the eggs again......
all the reading I have done suggests that that already happened once she scooped up the eggs in her
mouth?
and thoughts on this? and can he stress her to the point that she drops the fry...?????
Thanks
Ron

I agree with not moving her out of the tank due to stress, she may abort if she bocomes to stressed........i would leave her in and like i said ALOT of tiny little cracks and crevices for the fry to hide in will give them the best protection from the other fish....As far as the male to continue his pursuit of the female, its probably gonna continue......If it was my tank, i would try to temporarliy remove the chasing male till the female drops all the fry, then reintroduce him back in.........When my african tank was fully stocked, i had fry all the time, in fact i had to feed some to my Dempsey just to cull them out........I always had some fry that survived and would end up with too many fish, givning them away to other hobbyists.......My africans are on their last legs, the few remaining fish are getting close to being 8 years old.....I lost a bunch of them in the last year and a half due to old age, and im just letting the last few have the tank to themselves...........My interest in the hobby has shifted from cichlids to a more community type fish, but i will say, if you want fish with a rugged personality, you cant go wrong with africans.......Is your albino mother a gresheki?

Yes i understand. Im saying if you wanted as many fry that u can save then strip her. I breed them to sell to the lfs. It dont stress them as much as youd think....... If the male keeps chasing her that will stress her. and make her abort. Now i use a big net and let them swim into the net. It works for me. Just my opinion..... Now on the other hand your tank is much biger then mine. so you would have a lot more room to hide then in my tanks. I use 75 galllon tanks. with trio's in the tanks. But if you just want to save a few then i would recomend you to stay on the feedings with the adults or they will see the fry as food. There are so many diffrent ways to save fry. I have never lost a female or fry do to taken them out of the main tank.... But i have lost a female do to the chaseing. of the males.

I just picked up a 55 gallon for 60 bucks (Everything) ... so I need to
get that one going just for situations like this...
and I prolly will start a build thread tomorrow on my 210 gallon tank...
I want to raise Discus.... ( that should be fun )
I have found this forum a great help in the past and I really like talking
to all of you all....
have learned many new things....
