I have 3 week old fry and the male almost killed the female. I rescued her and moved her to another tank. Should I take the male away from the fry too? He is still looking after them. No other fish in the tank

A lot of people say remove the male or female but i've found that its important to keep the pair together so they hold there bond. You should be removing the fry after a week or two but don't let it go to far past that. Depending on the size of the male and female if you could make a cave or rocky area that only the female can go into when the male is all fired up. Also what size tank is this?

I agree with Gump 100%. The pair should remain together. If you separate them and then try to reintroduce them later, you will likely have a larger deadlier fight on your hands. IME the male will continue watching after the fry as will the female, whether you take them out after a few weeks or even several months. My cloud-o-fry stayed in the same tank with Mom and Dad for close to 6 months. Only because I had no place to put them. But....it is best to remove the fry once they are eating a bit larger than bbs, and put them in a grow out tank. They don't grow very quickly in with Mom and Dad. Also.....expect to have some cannibalism within the school of fry as some will grow faster than others and often the strongest make a meal out of brother and sister.
