Lisa -- that's a definite idea....already passed through me little mind I have others too. Plus the tanks are one of my favorite subjects and I'll be snapping a LOT of shots of these little guys as they grow!

Cute Babies! When do they start to take the shape of Angelfish? They look like reg. fry babies now.

Maybe you can help me. I had a 2 blushing angelfish that was given to me and they were the size of a nickel when I got them. They both grew to about 4". I lost one of them while on vacation. I bought another blushing angel about the size of a quarter hoping that they would get along. Well the big one picked on the little one and I had to move it to a 20 gal. I ended up taking them both to auction over the weekend and got 2 vail angelfish at petco that were in the same tank. They seemed to get along with all the other angels in the tank. I asked the person at the fish dept. about what had happened and they said that you have to get the same size or the bigger one will show domanance is this true? I'm not looking to breed angels I just want them in my 55 gal. community tank to be fry population control for my Fancy guppies.I also wanted 2 angelfish as my center peice fish as they are the bigggest since loosing my 2 Bosesmani rainbow fish and the other lg. angelfish.

Thanks...angel fry usually take on the shape we're accustomed to seeing around six weeks. I'm sad to say we lost this spawn too. Believe the parents ended up eating them even though we were making sure they were fed top floating food every time the fry were fed BBS or first bites (didn't want the parents to accidently suck up the fry while feeding). We didn't separate the fry from parents since we wanted to try the "natural method" of raising the fry where the parents do all the care. Yes, well live and learn i guess. This just their third spawn and we're hoping to trigger them again with a water change to adjust the temperature and pH which simulates the rainy season in the amazon.

Although Angels are in the cichlid family they are generally peaceful but can be territorial. Especially to new tank mates and smaller fish so it's possible that's why you had a problem.

Here are a few sites that may help you out. The second link is a question and answer type forum. Sometimes hard to read due to the format but pretty informative from what I've read on a variety of species in the past.

Good luck with your tank!

Wow, I answered this over an hour ago via mobile web and it didn't show up. Oh well....thanks Kymmie (and Austin) yes they're already cleaning off the anubis leaf so who knows? On the brighter side, the Japan Blue gup dropped fry about a month ago and out of the 9 there's one male. There are several of the females already hit -- the little devil! So as the guppy clans grow it's time to list at least some of the red double swords. We also have success with the albino red galaxies. The females dropped some fry just before they passed and of those one male. Plus a friend from another forum made a trade with us and sent one of his galaxy males. So two males in the tank with the remaining females is promising.

Still owe you a PM to catch you up on all the happenings of late....

Sooo as fate would have it we awoke to new angel eggs on the anubis leaf this morning!

THIS time we're not giving mum & dad a chance to eat the little swimmers! Buggers! Just wanted to let all know ...keep your fingers crossed, light candles, pray to whatever/whoever it is you pray, etc, etc.

I have an African Fertility Mask that my Mom picked up for me while in Kenya. She brought this mask way too late for me if she was wanting grandchildren from this daughter! I spoke to the mask this morning. It told me bountiful things are coming your way!
