A while back I bought a new aquarium and a handful of fish that I was told were "semi aggresive" by the lady at petco. This included a couple of frogs, a dragon fish and a couple of gold looking fish. I know they arent gold fish. They were alright looking and I needed some filler fish for such a big tank. Well the frogs turned out to be very aggressive and I was afraid they were going to hurt my other fish so I gave them away. I was left with the 2 gold looking fish and the one dragon fish. Then a lil while later I was cleaning the tank and I noticed baby fish swimming through the tank. One of the adult fish ate the babies so I moved the gold fishes to a seperate tank so I could monitor their breeding a lil closer. Well, I called petco to find out what kind of fish I had and was told they were probably mollies or guppies. (livebearers) Well that was two weeks ago and now today I noticed I had new fry in the tank. So either those fish are not live bearers or the dragon fish mated with itself. Soooo help , how do I find out what kind of fish these are and how do I keep em alive?
I'd be willing to bet that you do have some sort of livebearer. Probably mollies or platies of some kind. How big is your tank? If you could post pictures of your fish it'd really help us determine what you've got. That dragon fish is probably either a dragon goby or some sort of bichir. Both fish get pretty large and have some special needs and can get pretty large.
