Floating Plant "corral" options

I've made a plant corral in my QT tank using the plastic edging that you put over corners when you're doig drywall. It's a couple of bucks for an 8 foot long piece, it looks like this:


I cut a piece the width of the aquarium and cut the "spine" out of either end to create a notch that fits over the sill that the hood sits on:


And put it on like this:


From the front it isn't very noticeable:


Here it is from underneath:


It doesn't work with all aquariums, and the water has to be close to the sill, but it's cheap and easy to use.
I've also used it to create a baffle on an HOB filter by attaching it to the outflow area using nylon bolts.

Well DANG, that's a heck of a lot easier and cheaper than my acrylic bar method.

YES! Ogre, I love the drywall idea! Brilliant!!! Wouldn't work so well with Duckweed,I'd think that it'd get through the holes? But with any other, larger floaters its PERFECTION and super cheap, not a lot of work! Thanks for posting!!!

I'd bet it would work with Duckweed.
Those holes are tiny!

You could plug the holes if they too big, right?

Just curious, any way that could be painted black? It's the easiest method I've come across, with that drywall bar thing. (I know nothing of 'man stuff' hahaha). That whole thing with the acrylic bars (which was genius, I love the idea of the screen) made my brain mushy.

You could use corner protectors instead. Those come in black and clear.

I siliconed the screen directly to the corner protector (I used clear) and it's worked out great.
