Thank you Briana, you're a sweetheart. I'm glad my stand meets such high approvals. :D And yes, Dan (Civilian) was being facetious. He's jealous that I have a nice stand, and I'm jealous that he got his reef setup first.

Admin, Thanks! Now when are you making your trip to Home Depot?

i am super jealous too...while my husband is mucho talented and skilled, we have neither the wall space nor the time to build something so nice for ourselves...i would love a bigger tank, but i am going to go with a corner tank since i already have a corner cabinet that he built. he also built a beautiful(huge) dresser for our daughter...=)

i must also compliment your teaching skills...your DIY steps of building the stand was quite detailed, yet simply explained...makes it easy for someone who doesnt know what you are talking about to understand. my husband can buils cool things, but when it comes to explaining how he gets tongue-twisted. hehehe =P

Looks great SK! Any chance of a step-by-step for the hood? I need to build a new hood for a tank I have recently aquired and some help would be gratefully received!

Thanks

I had originally planned on completing a step by step on the construction of the canopy, however on construction day, i had forgotten my camera. I am planning on trying to complete a guide on the canopy using photos of the completed project, as well as examples of how things were put together using scrap wood in the very near future.

Smile Incredible detail (Aquarium Stand and Canopy)

Nicely done sir!!! I've been scowering the Internet using Google, Bing, Dogpile, etc., hoping to find a set of plans, or sequence of steps, so I too could build my own tank stand and canopy.

I found it interesting that you used Excel for the initial plans/design; resourceful!

After reading your threads, and viewing your pictures, I am more confident now, and will start building my own in a couple weeks.

Any chance you did post the instructions and pictures of your canopy?

Thanks bear,
I actually did an image search using Bing. I got fantastic hits on stand and canopy construction. There are a lot of talented fishkeepers out "there."
