And if all else fails and you can't find a dive shop near you that certifies many of the resorts (where you will be vacationing) offer this service. Granted, it's probably not as thorough as if you were getting certified through a shop. As long as you don't plan on diving any wrecks or going big time deep you will be fine. If you are going somewhere "tropical" (lucky you!) being in anywhere from 10 to 35 ft of water you're still going to see amazing things. You can run out of air at 35 ft and still make it back to the surface lickety split with no worry about suffering from the bends.
The other nice thing about being certified "on the spot"? All your dives will be gorgeous. Here in California where I was certified? The water was freezing (don't get certified in January, duh) and in our waters nothing truly fascinating to see. No beautiful reefs and colorful fish. Instead, it's giant kelp beds and big (scary) groupers, lol.
Which area are you looking to go on a diving holiday?? I'm so jealous, I wish I was in a position right now to go on a dive holiday!
