Zebra Danio with "Goiter"?

One of my zebra danios has a lump at the base of his throat, he looks like he swallowed a piece of gravel. The area looks pinkish. So far he is swimming normally, but is this something that will go away? Or will I have to put him down before he suffers?

It's really hard to say what it could be. Any way you can post a picture? Any other signs of illness?

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I have seen throat lumps in fish before, usually bettas, but I don't know what it is. They don't seem to go away.

There's no other signs of illness, and he ate tonight with no trouble. Hmm, I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I think that fish can have benign cysts. One of my black neons came with a lump on his side. I couldn't get him back out of the tank to return him to the shop, so I observed for a while before getting more fish. He's never had any apparent issues, none of the other fish have lumps, nothing's ever come of it.

But a lump the size of a small piece of gravel overnight? (I don't think it is gravel, because it's transparent...)

I'd post pics if I were you just to be sure of what exactly the issue is.

Sent from my desktop or phone or whatever else I am holding on to
