Will a clown loach eat assassin snails ?

I recently purchased a 55Gal tank, and its been up and running for 4 or so days now.. My mom hastily put a few fish from her tank in it and got other fish from a store... It has 4 Gold barbs, 1 angle fish, 2 dwarf gouramis and 1 clown loach...

I have having to do 50-60% water changes daily to keep the ammonia down as it always gets to 2-4PPM... grrr she has no patience.. I have had 3 assassin snails in my 27G hexagon in a floating container that you use for pregnant fish and babies.. To keep them away from my nerites but I don't think they are too happy being in that thing for the last 2 weeks.. I cant put them in my 30g tank either because it has nerites as well..

I was going to put them in the 55 but with the loach im worried... Maybe I should call my LFS and see if they will trade my assassins for snails or fish of equivalent value... Will the loach eat them ??

Yes the clown loach will eat any and all snail's it can extract from their shell's ,or those they catch already out of the shell and crawling about.
Might consider putting a few fish back in your mom's tank temporarily, and borrowing some filter material from her tank if it has been running with fish longer than a couple month's.
Some of her filter material ,or material from your 27 gal (assuming these tank's have "cycled"),,would speed up the maturing process of your 55 gal so that ammonia is processed quicker.
Once you or I have a "cycled aquarium",,there is no need to go through the nitrogen cycle again, when you consider that healthy bacteria are all over the material in already cycled tank, and moving some filter material from these tank's to your new tank can make thing's a whole lot easier on you,,and the fishes.
Would still stock the new tank slowly.

way ahead of you lol. It has a penguin350 biowheel and those filters have a big empty spot between their own floss filter and the wheel to add a secondary filter. I took one filter from my 27 hex and her 30 and put it intere to help. I also poured 100g worth of api suplimental bacteria in the tank. All the fish there are hardy fish. So ill just keep the water changes up to keep the ammonia down.. I hate loaches i wish she bever got tgat thing. Now i cant put any snail in that tank..

Is it planted? If not, get some plants in there to help with the water quality.

Could you exchange the clown loach? If you can't you will have to get more of them, they are a schooling fish.

yes its half planted.. It has about 4 6-7 inch amazon swords it has one 7-8 inch moneywart. 2 small 2-3 inch java fern.. And one other plant i dunno thr name.. Its green on top and purple veiny looking on the bottom... I plan to get more plants down the road.. But these i scavenged from both other tanks. As both were too heavily planted.

My mom wont return that thing.. She wants a second one. So well probly get one more but i dislike how they look so my max is 2 lol.. I prefer rainbow fish and neon tetras and stuff like that

I also just got back from petsmart and got a 48 inch aqueon t5 duel strip light. It came with a colormax and 6700k daylight. I was debating on getting a second daylight.. But the colormax has a higher red frequency then the daylight. Plus i like how colormax looks in pair with a daylight as the 30g tank i have has a 36 t5 duel from aqueon.. Im sure this will help over using 2 18 inch t8 bulbs in the 55 lol it was so dim before with the stock lights i couldnt even see anything..

I still gatta do water changes regardless it has a 3 foot long and pretty tall peice of drift wood thats heavily leaking tannins.. Making the water amber

If you don't want the tannins you could take it out and boil/soak it, that way most of the tannins will come out.
Although you will probably have to soak it for a while...

How am I going to boil a 3 foot piece long of driftwood ? No other choice but to put it in the tank and just wait it out..

I would stick with two T8 bulb's rather than T5 bulb's unless you will be injecting CO2 or using Excel.
T5 bulb's will increase the demand from plant's for more CO2,nutrient's.(In their absence,,algae will thrive)
Could place the T5 light fixture on timer and begin with six hour's of light each day,and see how thing's go.
If algae begin's to appear (likely),then perhap's raising the T5 fixture higher over the tank will be needed.
Should be able to grow the plant's you mention under two 36-40 watt T8 bulb's.

I don't think you understand.. You know when you buy a starter tank and it comes with a basic hood fixture ? You know how those hoods are typically say 24 inches long but have 18 inch bulbs... Or 36 inches long with 24 inch bulbs.. creating dark spots in the tank... My 55g I got on craigslist from a lady with tank/hood/lights/stand for $125 had a duel (separated light fixture meaning 2x 18 inch bulbs.. 1 bulb for each half of the tank... The bulbs were 15w.. so 30W (15w on each half) for a 55g tank.. Your thinking I had duel 48 inch T8's that isn't the case.. One was a pink colormax, the other was a full spectrum which has zero red frequency which plants need.. So the tank was extremely dim.. specially on the colormax side..

Hense why I got that 48 inch t5 strip.. Its a 56W strip.. it isn't a HO its a NO light strip.. Algae wont grow with a light like that.. My 36 long 30 gallon tank is actually doing great with the 36 inch t5 strip I got for a few weeks ago.. The red nesaea is growing its maintaining its dark red color although the new growth is more orange but that's ok.. Im using liquid CO2 from API everyday.. I probably don't need it but I do use in the 27g hex and my 30g..

The Hex is using 3 T8 bulbs... I actually just returned my 2x20 inch aqueon T8 strips and got my $60 back.. I decided to use the 2 lamps from the 55 that I took off as it uses 18 inch bulbs so I just put my floramax bulbs in it.. The hood overhangs the 27g hex by 3 inchs because its a 24 inch hood using a 18 inch bulb on a 20 inch wide/deep hex.. But that's ok the full 18 inch length of the bulb covers the 20 inch wide/deep hexagon so its no diff then using the 20 inch aqueon hoods (hense why I returned them) it also is using 1 15 inch t8 full spectrum to give the tank a white light (those floremax are too dim) That tank also has zero algae growth.. My plants are thriving in the tank.

So basically It was a win win.. Return my 2x20 aqueon hoods and a colormax bulb.. get $80 back.. Spend $90 on a 48 inch duel T5 light.. and use the 2x24 inch hoods for my 27g hex which had the 2 20 inch I returned.. I hope im making sense here ?
