White Cloud Minnows - Female Aggression?
This is a brand new tank that was started yesterday. I have 5 WCMM in an 8 gallon tank (3 females and 2 males). There are a few weird things I noticed. The good is that they seem to be very well acclimated to the tank. The first day (yesterday) they were introduced to the tank, they swam close together most of the time like a school of fish should. They slept like they should of last night, everyone was scattered around the tank calmly floating. Now today is the weird part, unlike yesterday where they only swam at the top and middle of the tank, today, they are swimming near the bottom looking for food and swimming around, poking at the rocks. This may be a sign that they are more comfortable within the tank, exploring everywhere. But there's this female (slightly larger then the other females) chasing away everyone who goes near her (or near the bottom of the tank). She is constantly displaying her fins (maybe a sign of aggression?). Can someone tell me what is causing this aggression? Territorial behavior perhaps?
