What do you think of this idea for a loach sand box?

I still vote for making a sand box with larger rocks, I'm working on getting another tube of silicone to make mine.

As far as gravel getting mixed in with sand w/ my plexiglass divideridea-even if some sand falls over to the gravel side it's not a big deal, for me anyway. Black gravel, black sand. The sand follows the "brazil nut theory"-all the smallest particles fall to the bottom, the larger ones stay on top.

Ok, so I have a small glass jar now with sand in it. The jar is about 6 inches long and 3 inches in diameter. As far as I can tell none have gone in there yet. I think they just like to hide under the driftwood and in the crevices between rocks. I'll leave it in there for a while, but they don't seem to be showing much interest. The rim of the jar is flush with the surface of the gravel.
