Tiger Barb Schools

Quick question that I think I already know the answer to....Can 3 or so Green Tiger Barbs and 3 or so Tiger Barbs work well in a school, or is it significantly better to have 6 or more of either Green Tigers or Tigers?

i think it would be fine to mix the green tigers with the tigers but i'm not completely sure so you might want to get some other opinions too.

hello.
not a problem to mix the barbs,looks quite nice
with a mixed group,and yes as long as you have the room for a big group
the bigger the better.they are a fast swimmer and like a planted tank
aswell.

Alrighty! Sorry for the super delay, completely forgot about it until last night. I still haven't quite mastered the fish tank photography thing, so some of the pics are a little blurry.

First two pics are blurry pics of the Tiger Barbs and Pearl Gourami.

Here's the tank as a whole. Excuse the airline tubing running across the back wall. I plan to secure it a little better and hide it, but I get really lazy during the summer. :)


And here's a Kuhlii loach that I'm holding until my wife's new tank cycles, sharing some food with the cory. With how rare they are sold down here, when I saw them I had to buy them. Cool little dude.


Overall I'm very happy with the setup now. The barbs are very active and really bring a lot of life to the tank while the gourami is, in my opinion, a very beautiful fish. I also added 2 more upside down catfish which have made the other UDcat very happy. They come out a lot more in the day than I expected them too.

they look great.i always like the mix of barbs :)
make sure there is nothing in the tank with holes in,like in the wood,
or caves,i have found Tiger barbs like to find small holes
to wedge themselves into,but they can't get out.

I'll keep in an eye on them. I don't think they should have any problems. Appreciate the tip though!
