Tiger barb inactive, lost appetite

I have 6 tiger barbs in a 2-foot tank (there are also two baby platys in the tank at the moment)
The tank was cycled with fish food at the beginning of the year, before any fish were added. The water conditions are fine; I did a routine water test (ammonia and nitrite zero, nitrate something i can't remember, but not lethal, pH 7.1) and partial water change a few days ago.

All the fish are fine except for the smallest barb. His tail is fairly harshly nipped, but there don't seem to be any other injuries. The fish aren't overly aggressive; they only chase and nip, I haven't seen them actually fight since they originally established their pecking order. Currently they're not bothering the sick fish. He is a male. yesterday I noticed he was sort of slow, but he did come up for food, today he's just hanging around near the bottom, and wouldn't even come up for food.

I'm not sure what to do.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hmm, he may be feeling a bit stressed? I'd keep an eye on him. A fish can go a few days without food. Please keep us updated. Maybe someone can offer more information. I've never kept barbs myself.

It could be a number of different things, but the tail damage leads me to believe it is a bacterial infection.
There are lots of different meds available for bacterial infection.
If you wish to avoid meds, try adding a tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons water & daily 25% water changes.
