stocking question

i have few tanks, and my husband saw a fish he really likes, and I was wondering if it would be compatible with any of my fish. he likes checkerboard or checkered barbs- but i know little about them. they would have to live in a 30 gallon with my tiger barbs. would they get along?? i have 7 tiger barbs, 3 zebra danios, and 2 golden roseline danios (not roseline sharks). all the fish are fairly small. i guess if the checker barbs is tighly schooling then the answer would be no....??what do you guys think?
