hey guys! i need some suggestions for soft/rounded sand for my future dojo loaches. i want a dark and fairly heavy grain size. i want something that will settle quickly after they stir it up.

You won't get soft and large grain size in the same package.
Playsand is really soft, but you have to really wash it to get the light stuff out.
Pool filter sand is coarser, but that mean's it's heavier as well

play sand and pool filter are not dark enough. flourite is not heavy enough. black diamond blasting sand is too sharp. still looking at tahitian moon sand. any reviews on this?would love to hear from dojo or eel owners.

They're supplied by a company call PolyGeyse. They are replacement for sand in aquaculture filters and yes they come in black, I believe the black is the smallest size. I'll dig out a link in all this junk I have stored on this puter.Sometime it a minute to figure out my madness.

i found something interesting, it is called nitrastrate made by maglife usa.it is a nitrate consuming rounded polymer substrate. i think the size is wrong for my orandas though.would not want the choking hazard. they have it on sale at petmountain right now.looks to be similar to the product thay rickey mentioned. rickey, was that product porus?

How big is the tank?
If you don't mind the bright colors I believe crayola sand is perfectly smooth
