I don't know why, but I've been having trouble keeping a school of Kuhli Loaches alive in a 20g tank. Twice I've ordered a batch of them, and both times, I end up down to one, which is the one I've had from the first batch. Happened to me once last year, but that time, I thought they were all gone, and it wasn't until that batch showed up, that I've found out that one was hiding out in one of the decorations. Unfortunately, they all died, along with the rest of the fish when the local water became more of a hazard to the rest of the fish. When I finally got it fixed, one of the fish I order are Kuhli loaches, and except for one, picked up some strange illness and died, leaving me with the one I've previously mentioned. By next month, I've ordered a new batch because I know how they love being in a group, but for some reason, it was like one day they are healthy, the next they were dead, and once again I'm down to one. The difference is that this batch was healthy. Wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or if the company I've ordered them from, LiveAquaria, kept sending me a bad batch.
Anyway, the water parameters are these: The temp. I keep at 75°, the ph I keep at neutral, at around 7.0. The other parameters, I'm not too sure about, but consider that all the other fish are still alive and well, they must be in the right levels. I have live plants, a driftwood and a decoration that serves as good hiding places, but sometimes it's hard to tell which ones they use the most.
So right now I'm asking anybody if they know if the Kuhli Loaches have high standards, if any of the parameters are within okay levels for them, or something, because while they tend to scare me a bit when I see them looking like they died, I still would like to see if I can get something right.
