Question Odessa barbs

Anyone kept these? Thinking about a school of them to go in my tank with my serpae tetras and cories.

Would appreciate anyone's experiance with them other than just what is available to read, as I have already read up on them.

Thanks.

In a 29, I would go with a smaller barb species.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

We have a 55 gallon "barb" tank with Odessas in it. They are beautiful once they get their color. They look so plain in the store. It can take a few days to a month or more.

They are very active fish. They swim with the black ruby barbs we have. I would not keep them in something smaller than 48" long. We are actually looking at moving them to a larger tank.

Cherry barbs are the best choice for a 29, IME.

Thanks for the opinions folks, I appreciate them. I did NOT go with Odessa Barbs, due to their size. I ended up adding a school of brilliant rasboras to the group and it has worked out wonderfully!!! Thanks again!!!

I fell in love with the albino cherry barbs...but have yet to add them...maybe down the road I might, but I think I am pretty happy with the stock that is in the tank, and everyone seems happy in there themselves and all seem to be thriving.

I thought of cherry barbs too before the recent additions, but with the serpae tetras I thought it might be too much red, which is why I went with the brilliant rasboras.
