New Loach Owner here.

So hello guys. Im pretty new in keeping kuhli loaches. I bought 3 of them last night and when I put them inside the tank, they dont socialize with the other fish. I have guppies and cories in my tank. They are all doing fine.

So, I've read that kuhli loach are nocturnal. But, at night, im observing them if they will come out. But, they didnt. And do all kuhli loaches has some redish color in their gills. My LFS said that its just normal.

I'm not sure about the reddish color. Mine don't have that, but they are the "brown" version, and don't have the stripes. Red gills usually means ammonia poisoning. They are really hearty fish but do better in groups. Get a few more when you can. Mine are out all the time during the day, and especially at feeding time. Cute, active little guys.

Ohh... is that so. I hope my little guys will be okay soon. They look really cute.

my kuhli loach or the ones with stripes like body that is orange in color.

hope some more experienced keepers there will help me. Hoping that its not ammonia poisoning.

Even if it is, they are hearty and will likely be okay. As long as you don't expose them to any long term ammonia. See what others say.

Welcome to the world of loaches! Pangio loaches are some of my favorite fish. I love their antics. They won't socialize with other fish, but they will become more active in the presence of more kuhlis. I highly recommend you get more. Then they will show their true colors. After I lost a few kuhlis I never saw the remaining three until I got them some buddies.

For the reddish color does it look like this:

or this:

(I would ask you for pictures but that seems unlikely.)

These are pictures of perfectly healthy P. kuhli and P. semicincta (two common species of striped kuhli loaches) from loaches.com. Some kuhlies have a reddish tint to them. I have both brown (P. oblonga) and striped (P. kuhli) and both have a slight reddish tint around their gills. This is just because the skin is thin there, and the gills are a very blood-rich organ. You can see another picture of a brown kuhli loach in my signature.
