Neon rainbows killing one fish in tank

Has this happened to anyone? I have had 5 neon dwarf rainbows, (for a few months now). Always thought I had one male, and 4 "females", and possibly one of the females was a "male". The other day woke up to find one dead. It was the fish that now I think was a male. There is no evidence it died of any disease, and I'm guessing the other male in the tank killed it. I rarely if ever saw any drama or fighting, I think I've seen the male twice flash his white stripe on his head, and that is it, never any fighting, and than . . bam, one is dead. Not much to do about it now, just was so sudden. No warning, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas on this.

How did you come to the fact that they had killed it? Couldnt possibly killed it without any damage, incision, or anything protruding. possibility is endless. cant jump to conclusions yet.

True. But, no behaviors that would have indicated it was sick. I found it dead in the morning, and it had been "eaten", eyeballs gone (probably the ghost shrimp) and stomach gone. Yes, it could have just died, and that is possible, as my husband was up late watching TV and he said he saw no fighting, I just don't understand how it just died. I guess it may just be a mystery, but I shouldn't assume the male killed him, I just thought that was possible, given that I think the one that is now dead was another male, I'm pretty sure. When I got them you couldn't tell as they were too young.

Maybe the cause of death was SUNDS. it happens to alot of adults, usually in poor rural areas and especially the hmong vetrans of the vietnam war. The eyeballs were taken out because of the shrimps and so is the belly. I usually leave my dead fish until the carcase is left. its a treat for my shrimps.

SUNDS is Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome - its actually a real life syndrome in humans btw XD maybe fish can have it too
