Name That Tetra! It's a mystery to me.

I've had these since I upgraded, but I really have no idea what they are. They were sold as a "Silver Tip Tetra" but when I look up Silver Tip Tetra I get so many different photos of fish that obviously not the same species. I've researched many websites looking through hundreds of photos to see what they actually are. I've also found blurbs that say they are peaceful community AND that they are aggressive fin nippers!

I can say they are very pretty, and their colors have really come out. As far as fin nipping goes I see no evidence of that. They are with my danios and are fine, and I would never put them with my mean little Serpae!

So PLEASE! Name that Tetra! I put paper behind the tank to try and get the best photos possible.

Hi Susan.

Judging by your pics, it is not a characin it seems. I would lean towards rasboras which are cyprinids.:) It looks like a Microrasbora species but as my connection is most unfortunately slow, I cannot find my time to identify your fish correctly although I am sure the others will follow soon enough.:)

Thank you Blue! I have a lightning fast connection so I researched after I saw your reply, and I agree!

Look at this photo, that is my mystery fish!

This is listed as a Microrasbora Rubescens. That explains why they get along so well with the danios, huh? :)

You rock! 8)

Lovely fish. I have 4 Microrasboras right now(not the same as yours though) but I didn't have the time to identify them properly.:sob: Thank heavens...I'm switching to Broadband this week and my time is getting loose as summer vacation approaches.:)
