You would want to upgrade to a 90 so that the fish aren't bumping into one another. I don't think you appreciate how large these fish get. They can and do grow much bigger than 6 inches. That does mean they ALL will, but one should expect them to get to 8 inches or more. Such a fish would probably have a 10 inch girth - it's not just the length of the fish....

If you get dojos, I would get at least 5. They don't school, but they sure do appreciate having buddies.

I have to agree. As much as I try to accommodate everyone's individual situation as best as possible, jaysee is right that goldfish are huge fat pigs. They are big and clumsy dudes. They also like friends.

And if each fish did it's own thing, that would be different....but they are social fish and swim together often. The problem with the 55 is that it is only 12 inches wide. Big clumsy fish like that need extra space to maneuver.

That depends on a lot of factors. I mean, you ought to hope they do because that means you've taken good care of them......

55 is a good grow out tank though.

If you get them it's best to not mix with different goldfish. Their wen can make it difficult to see, so they could be out competed for food by other types.
