Greetings!

We have a Yoyo Loach in our 55g tank who used to live in a 29g. When we had him in the 29g tank he would be active at night and hide during the day unless it was feeding time, then he'd come out to eat and chase the others for the food. He would move quick too, which is what I've read about the fish doing. However he started to lose his color and we weren't sure if he was going to survive.

We started a brand new 55g tank about a month ago and after it was cycled and ready to go we transfered the Yoyo into the tank so he would be in a bigger environment as he was his full size at this point. A week later he got his color back, yay! But now its been about 3 weeks and today he's going insane.

Now don't get me wrong, I know they can be active; but this is beyond rediculous. As I'm posting this, he has been going around the tank really freakin fast non-stop for the past 12 hours, the tank light has been off for about 90 minutes already. He's doing laps up and down left and right, front and back of the tank and isn't quitting either. I'm worried he's going to give himself a heart attack soon. All the other fish are just minding their own business having a great time unless he gets close to them, they move away. Water conditions are fine as far as the cycle is concerned and temp.

Any thoughts of what is triggering this non-stop swimming reaction?

Most loaches are highly social, schooling fish, including yoyos. Now that you have it in an appropriately sized tank it's time to get more. Ultimately I think you should strive for 6-9 of them, but 3 would be a good start. I know they aren't cheap.
