ok so ive got a loach related question. is it ok to have clown and yo yo loaches with sand? cause i know there bottom feeders and all. and how many would be a "good" amount for a 55 gal tank?

i don't know how much you would need, they'll do fine on sand.
(please don't think me rude here) don't forget maintainance
with sand,it can cause problems and look gross when it goes black.

Well right now ive got a 20 gallon with sand in it, and its been running for a couple months now looking fine. Just as long as you stay on top of your tank its no real worry. But good. Cause ive always wanted clown loaches but ive never had a big enough tank.

55 gallons isn't going to be large enough for clown loaches unless you intend on upgrading again soon, and a LOT.

My kuhli

Here is my Myers loach, found out he wasn't a kuhli when I bought him friends and he is about double their thickness and has different markings. Luckily he does little dances with the other 2. He was a trade in at a fish store and apparently the woman had him 10 years and forgot he was in the tank.

I too enjoy the Kuhlii loaches and keep four in a twenty gallon with sand substrate.
I would not go so far as to say they belong in every tank however. They do not compete well for food in tanks with numerous other bottom feeders such as corydoras and are not suited for tanks with large fish that may view them as food but for most community tanks with non aggressive fish, they are fun to watch.
