I would go with at least a 20 gal for tiger barbs. The bigger the tank the better. Very active fish, need lots of swimming room.
Tiger barbs and cherry barbs can live together, but you will need to have at least 6 of each type fish. The tiger barbs can become aggressive if not kept in groups of 6 or more. Its fine to mix the colors of tiger barbs.
They are not picky eaters. Flakes, pellets, shrimp, bloodworms, peas, like any fish a good variety is best.
