hillstream loach tankmates

Ive been permitted by the wife to put a tank at our rental house!

She would prefer not to have a heated tank (shrug) so I was thinking of doing a 20g long river tank. I have ALWAYS wanted to try hillstream loaches. 6 loaches, some wood, some border plants but nothing crazy, and more wood. Current provided by a smallish canister, or a sponge/powerhead combination thats turned down quite a bit. I dont want to make my fish tank look like a washing machine ;)

I think it would be too much current for WCMMs long term. Any other small fish you guys think would appreciate the cooler temps and a little current? Its going to stay in my kitchen, maybe a small backup heater... Temps would stay between 65 and 72ish I think.

not much in the way of possible tank mates listed, but the site got me more interested than ever in making a tank! Im sketching out ideas for river tanks now using the powerhead manifold idea they used, maybe even using a wider tank, and designing areas of lower flow for a mixed bag of fast, and slow moving current fish. This is going to take some serious research. Thanks for the read byron!
