Handling your fish will damage their slime coats. I don't see bonding in that video clip; I see man-handling. Not advisable.

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

That video was going overboard, Deku. I would never handle a goldfish like that. A fish can be handled but do it gently, not roughly like the video showed. My goldfish like to nibble on my fingers but I would never go to the point of handling them roughly. Goldfish are intelligent creatures. Mine were able to recognize me and had my watonai and fantail not started approaching me immediately after I returned them to the 75g, the new comet and shub would still cower in the corner as they are still ridiculously shy but with the appearance of my old goldies, the new ones were able to join the fun and able to face me without panicking around. I bought my watonai and fantail last May and they had garnered at least 2 inches in size since I bought them and they were already attached to me.

You can massage their bellies or pet them on the head softly. The one on the video was just very rough. If you notice some white stuff floating around, it indicates their slime coat is already peeling off and you should stop handling the goldfish once you see it. Damaged slime coats leave them more prone to secondary infections.

You could try ranchus, lionheads, bubble eyes and celestials as their tankmates. If you opt to go with bubble eyes and celestials, make sure none of your decorations are abrasive enough to damage their eyes.
