| || | GoldFish Aggression?
I am posting this for my mom. She has 4 goldfish that live together. 2 Comet and 2 Common, ranging from 3 inches to 6 inches. The smallest one is about 6 months old and the other 3 are a little over two years old.
They live in a 29 gallon tank with a around 8 inch long common pleco. The tank has two filters and is heated and cleaned often. And yes, we are aware the tank is a little small. We have been upgrading tanks every year for them. In April they are getting a 55 gallon.
Well my question is. Mime, the second largest (maybe about 4 1/2 inches), has been biting Goldie Hawn, the largest one (6 inch) in the butt area. He has been doing it for about a year off and on now and he has recently been causing her skin in that spot to become red. It is at the spot between the caudal fin and the anal fins. Sometimes he bites hard enough to where you can see her skin being pulled when he jerks away. So my question is, why is he doing that? (btw, I am calling them he and she but I have no idea the sex of any of them)
Thank you. :)
