I read in Practical Fishkeeping that these wee fishes will be extinct in the wild in only a few years time unless we stop importing them. :(

Perhaps the only way we can stop this happening is by boycotting buying them.

The situation on the wild is not as bad as first thought, although we have still managed to take a huge dent out if the wild stock.

A couple of people here and there boycotting them will not affect this imo, a more proactive approach would be to encourage a LFS that carries them to try and start breeding them in shop and sell those fry, or buy the lfs stock and set up a nano for them. Soft, fairly cool (by tropical standards) water with lots of moss and breeding at home should be very achievable (see PFK online for spawning reports)

They are no longer Rasboras. Their new name is Celestial Pearl Danio (from TFH). I have read that some people have already started breeding these fish. I hope the breeding farms would be able to breed a huge stock so we can all have some for out home aquariums.
