Field collecting expedition for... Goldfish?!

Tuesday I'm going field collecting for goldfish.
The local cemetary has a natural pond full of them *and a few native fish* so I'm gonna try to catch a few *3-6 inches each,* throw them in an empty 29 gallon, name on of the females Sir Flavio, keep it outside through spring, and watch'em breed. :D
I love goldies.

Everyone loves the chocolate.

-Love them Loaches-

I don't know if you will get them to breed in a 29 gallon tank. They really need 20 gallons each at least to be happy and so you can keep up with filtration.

Goldfish really only breed well in large ponds so it might be better to let them stay there. Not to say it can't be done but more than 2 in a 29 gallon is crowding them a little. I know, the 1 inch rule, but for goldfish it should really be 1 inche per 3 gallons rule just for the filth they produce and the fact they are fish that get up to 10+ pounds.

You could still give it a try but remember to keep the temp lower than 75 and to feed them normally so when they go back in the pond they don't have a culture shock and get bullied out of the pond.
