Clown Loaches dont seem happy ?

In a prev tank set up I kept clown loaches and loved their gentle character and watching them chilling out on the rocks, sleeping on their side and all manner of crazy behaviour!

New tank, and added some loaches 5 days ago (4) Since being added, they have basically hidden right away the whole time and the odd time I do see one, its like its acting stressed and trying to get out, acting all agitated near the edge of the tank and swimming fast up and down and doesnt seem too happy. They dont seem to shoal as I was told they would, they dont hang out together at all. Water checks say all is ok in that regard.

Any ideas/advice?

How big is the tank? Larger or smaller than the previous tank? What is your definition of "ok" water parameters?

It sounds like they are stressed. Is there anything you can think of stressing them? Lights shining in tank, noise, not enough hiding places?

Just throwing ideas out there I don't know much about clown loaches - I've never kept any.

Its the same tank as before, 43 gallons, plenty of hiding places. Ammonia and nitrites at zero and nitrates rising, been running for 8 weeks, all other fish very happy and healthy seemingly...........

My herd of clowns spent the first week behaving that way. They hid most of the time in the bank of the tank, frantically swimming all the way up, then all the way down. It sounds like yours are stressed and haven't settled in yet. What other fish (and how many) are in this tank??

I also have guppies, danios and neon tetras, all of which are completely leaving the loaches well alone, there seems to be no issues of compatibility, hopefully they will settle down then...............thanks for replying x
