clown loach 10 gallon aquarium

I know 10 gallon is a bit small but i didn't when i got him; i also didn't know they were schooling fish. would it be healthier to get 2 or just leave the one?

Hi there. Sorry to have to tell you this, but a ten gallon tank cannot house a clown loach.

They grow large and should be kept in groups. I have a 45 gallon which is do not consider to be big enough to house clown loaches.

My advice would be to return him to the LFS and get something smaller instead.

Sorry but i agree with Kate. Clown loaches can groe to a foot long, and a 10g is never going to be big enough. Pygmy cories, might be a better option for bottom dwellers for you, unless you plan to upgrade to 90g or so?

I guarantee almost any store will take him you just wont get any money back. If you take the fish to a store and say what happened and that the clown is healthy but stressed from the move they will take the clown off your hands.

I think your issue may be wanting your money back.

I would get a 55 gallon, They sell them at walmart for just under 200$ for the tank and the stand, But i would definetly get a Canister filter for a clown loach, there a "High Quality" fish when there full grown... And yes a 55 gallon is a littel small but 1 clown and a few other small fish Will do fine.

Good luck:>

55 Gallon Freshwater Shark Tank
10 Gallon fry/feeder guppy tank
