Hey Fish Fans,
Thanks everyone for reading.
Our poor Black Moor seems really sick! We moved him from the 2.5 gal tank where he's been the only fish since we got him (~ 4 in, 2 1/2 yrs) to a fully cycled new 29 gal. tank around 3 weeks ago. About a week later he got Ich -- stress from being moved? He's being treated with aquarium salt and higher water temperature and the Ich seems to have gone away, Day 6 and no new white specks.
Last night he didn't seem like himself, just lying on tank floor, but we got his attention and he started swimming around like normal. I thought I saw a fluffy cotton wool patch near his cloaca, and maybe faint white (not Ich) on the bases of his caudal fins, but on checking again there was no white stuff. After a search on TFK.com I was still unsure. It was really late, so we did a 17% water change and stopped there instead of risking a mistake.
Now the poor little guy clearly feels terrible, just lying on tank floor and barely even moving when stimulated. We're really, really worried. Just now, we took out the Eheim "new filter" charcoal pad and added Pimafix and Melafix.
Is this right? Anything different that needs to be done? If someone has seen this too, please tell us what you think!
Fully cycled, nonplanted 29 gal tank
Eheim 2213 filter
Two Eheim Jager 50W heaters
Glass Marineland standing thermometer
One very much loved Black Moor Goldfish
Diet: mostly green peas, occasional green bean; 2-3 Aqueon Goldfish sinking granules/day (Hikari Lionhead Gold and Saki Hikari ordered, still in transit)
Water 77-78 deg. F
Nitrate 10 ppm
Aquarium salt 1 teasp./gal.
Pimafix 3 tsp (15 mL) just added
Melafix 3 tsp (15 mL) just added
Thank you again! We hoped a bigger tank and room for a new Fancy Goldfish friend would be good for the little fish. Maybe soon we can say that's true!
