Black kuhlis with regular (striped) kuhlis? Will they shoal?

So, I have 3 black kuhlis and 2 kuhli loaches and aqadvisor (my favorite site, of course), as well as the guy at my lfs said that the two kinds will shoal together. Now I've had them for a while and I have not found that to be the case. The striped kuhlis hang out as a pair and the black kuhlis hang out as a trio, but I never see the five of them all together. They are in fact two distinct species (same genus), so I'm thinking of recommending to aqadvisor to change that advice. However, I'd like to first ask if anyone else has had experience with the two species together and whether or not they have grouped with the other species.
So, anyone else?

IME fish don't care about color :)

I don't mix color morphs, but every account I've ever read says they do.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

I've never tried to mix the two (I've only ever had black kuhlis) but it doesn't surprise me that the fish are able to tell the difference between the two species and choose not to mix. This happens with other closely related fish such as tetras and corydoras. If you've got the room in the tank (kuhlis do have a light bioload) I would get more of each type.

Nope, the striped kind are Pangio kuhlii and the black ones are Pangio oblonga.

That's because zebra danios are all the same species!
Kuhlis and black kuhlis are two very closely related but distinct species.

Just an update if anyone cares, I informed aqadvisor about this and they said they would change it :)

Ps. I would get more of both but I'm boycotting my LFS because their fish look terrible, and have diseases.
Next time I go to the next town I'll see if they have any.

I have kuhlis and javas and they don't hang out together. They don't mind each other, but the javas have a much bolder personality that's not really compatible with the relatively timid kuhlis.
