3 green barbs in 10g tank...

Alright, so I have a new 10g planted tank that's been cycling for a few weeks now. 2 days ago added a few snails, ghost shrimp and 3 green barbs. Initially, barbs schooled somewhat, but now that they are getting comfortable, one is definitely bullying the other two.

Otherwise, plenty of wood/plant cover, nooks, etc. Water levels fine.

Will this subside? Any other thoughts? I don't like the idea of bullys.

Thanks in advance-

JD

will try to upload pics i a little bit-

Lets make sure we have the species correct. I have seen a number of fish sold as "green barb" over the years. Did you purchase Green Tiger Barbs?

saw this...

Tiger Barbs nipping. In other news, water wet, sky blue, emo kids pathetic.

Tiger Barbs nip. It's what they do. It's what they live for. If you had a tiger barb that was sick and could either swim or nip, it would ask you to move it nearer to another fish's fins so that it could nip them.
...in another thread. Guess I shouldn't worry.

Tiger Barbs form Pecking orders in their groups, and one will be the "alpha-male" and chase and attack others relentlessly. I experienced this in a group of 8. One killed 3 of my barbs, and then I gave that one back, and another killed one or two. It is a sign of a group being too small, and the only ting that might work is to have a group of 10+. Your tank, however, is not large enough to do so.

Agreed. Long term success with Tiger Barbs in a 10 gallon tank is almost impossible.

i have to agree with the others, this may be ok while they are very small
however it will change, and change quickly,in that
size tank you are going to have nothing but bad luck,
a small tetra might be nice instead.
tiger barbs grow to become agressive, they fair better in a very large group, and even then they argue amongst themselves, they
need swimming space,as they are quick, and a very heavily planted tank
helps too.
:( rather negative,sorry
