It depends on what you like. If it were my tank i would do a Dwarf Puffer tank, but if you do that you will need a lot more plants to keep the puffer from not getting bored.

dwarf puffers are really cute.
just don't have more than one male, and it need to have loads
of plants and caves.
nice choice. :)

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I have two dwarf puffers in a 10 gal. Fun fish! I added lots of decor to help break up the fights. Picky eaters. Mine will only eat blackworms and bloodworms. Otherwise fun and hardy fish. Always checking out whats going on outside their aquarium.

You amy want to bring up your temperature to at least 76 degrees. Most fish people will suggest are tropical fish, and 76 is a minimum temperature. 72 degrees is almost coldwater.

I'm not going to suggest fish, becasue I have no idea as to what you like and/or what you want.

If Puffers are your choice, mine do well at 80 deg.

Not going to suggest puffers. I just don't like them. You could try some shrimps and snails. Keep temp consistent at 76-78 degrees Fahrenheit. How about cherry shrimps and Pomacea bridgesii? You could try the Neritina natalensis. They prefer algae so you can supplement them with algae wafers. Unless you get the European nerites, they cannot breed in FW at all even though they will lay white eggs around the tank.

I have two sparkling gouramis in a 5 gallon, with plans to update to a 10 gallon and add a few more.
I'd definitely recommend getting them! They're tiny fish (max out at ~4 cm), but they're active and inquisitive. If you go with sparklers, you'd have to keep the temperature around the 78 - 82 degree range. And provide lots of plants to hide in.

well if your tank is 72 degrees F, you might as well go with cold water fish like that of White Cloud Mountain Minoows and/or corydoras
