What are these they are all over the shaded sides of my live rock? Can they sting my bta keeps geeting black edges.

its hard to see what it is in the picture but in going to say either a sponge of some sort which would be harmless or what it looks even more like is an organism thats name escapes me. what it does basically is "fishes for food" by sending out a sticky sting/line like thing to catch food. they arnt much of a big deal but they will sting corals it comes in contact with. do they seem to fit this description?

Yea sounds right.So is it them making my RBTA sides to get black and witherd? How can I get rid of them does anything eat them? Can you tell me what kind of urchin this is?

that guy looks to be in bad shape. its dis-colored and its tenticles are retracting.

what are all your tank params? temp,ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,pH,SG,ca,mag,alk,flow ,lights,tank size,how long has the tank been setup, how long has the nem been in it, do you feed it/what/how often, protein skimmer,whats in the tank, how much live rock, what kind of filtration and anything else you can include to be benificial.

30gal,20lb LR,20lb LS, Aquac PS, orbit 30" PClight,2-koralia#1powerhead, since 11/08, temp78, salinity 33PPT,PH8.2,ammonia 0,nitrite 0,nitrate 5,calclum 400,KH 161ppm,Phosphate 0,I add liquid calclum,Iodine,molybdenum strontium onec a week. Have a blenny, 2 clowns, 1coralbeauty, 1RBTA, some polyps, couple snails and hermits a conch. Just got the urchin(to big), the green coral cup, and a anamone shrimp. It looked great for 3 weeks had full tips then one morning its edges was black and its tenticles were retracted and it moved. Now its back in its old spot and looking better its tips are getting fuller. Had it for almost 5 weeks. Feed it mysis shrimp ever other day.
