What is this creature? ID please!

Hey,
So this is the 2nd post of a similar nature in two days. But my tank seems to be springing into life at the moment.

I am now wondering what this is and what it does, is it good or bad, does it have purpose in this micro-environment?

It looks like it could be Aiptasia, but I'd wait for one of our reefers to confirm. If it is, it's considered a pest in a reef tank and most people try to remove it from their tanks.

Which is exactly why F/W people should stay out of the S/W section!

no

no not at all ...you were on the right track..a single colored polyp with possible ill intetions should allways be in question...and the fact that you were able to cross referance it to an aptasia says that you have been paying atention so you should feel good about your input.

I do pay attention and read every S/W thread. One day I will try my hand at a small reef.
