I've never seen it closed up, it expands bigger or smaller depending on it's mood. We did have one die when we first got it and the skelaton looked just like #14, or close to it anyway cause we can't exactly see the whole thing on that picture. I am noticng that the mouth on my guy is different, it's more pronounced on my guys. I don't know, I did research the strawberry and it's also close but not quite right. My guys will expand around food, if I give them a big chunk they will swell up and expand the mouth big enough to eat it. I've seen their mouths get probably close to an inch across to swallow a chunk. The first time it happened I was feeding some shrimp and had a whole small shrimp, I was breaking it up with my nails to spread it between them when I dropped half of one on them. I let them have it, rather than get stung. Came back a half hr later, to check on them and the bigger one on top had the whole thing in his mouth. Totaly blew my mind but I have since started giving them more and they are really flourishing since that accident. At night I have seen them stretch out and get really long and skinny with the tenicles sweeping in the water. Their normal base is probably an inch across with the tenicles ranging from mood about 2-4" on a normal day, at night they easily double their size, if not more. .
I keep them away from everyone that they can sting, I have a really big long tenicle (12") that tends to want to get close. We tend to fight about it, he'll pick up in the middle of the night and I'll find them side by side with the anenome over lapping them. I have watched them and they do seem to co habitate with no fighting, but better safe than sorry in my book.
These guys are fairly competative over food, one will often steal the others food, even if it's in their mouths. Takes them awhile, about a half hr to maneuver themselves around enough to do so. I've watched them do it, they deflate one side and inflate the other and they can swing the mouth around to grab it, they don't seem to try to use the tenacles at all for that. [/i]
