Suprised by a hitchhiker

I am currently in the process of setting up my first marine tank (I had a very brief stint with a Craigslist nano cube that promptly broke which led me to re-home everything).

I bought the live rock that I am using to seed my tank 9 days ago... setup the tank and had to break it down due to the tank not being level (I used a level that was too small apparantly). I didn't setup the tank again until Wednesday (4 days after I bought the rock - 3 of which the rock was in a bucket that was covered w/ no circulation). The tank has been running for 5 days when I see an interesting cone like shell that I placed in the tank on the sand bed now on the rocks. The shell was certainly empty when I placed it in there (just a cool empty shell I took from the nano which sat on a shelf for some time). I pluck the shell off the rock and see something blueish retract into the shell (the shell being rather long it was easy for whatever it was to retract out of site). I place it back on the rock and a few seconds later it starts moving... saw some blue legs. Appears I have a small hitchhiker blue legged hermit crab (and he has been living in my tank the last 5 days and apparently on my rock for the last 9). Hopefully he is visible again sometime tonight so that I can snap a picture of it.

Will he live through my cycle or shall I find a new home for him?

Should be fine, crabs are incredibly hardy for the most part. I had a couple of crabs hitchhike into my nano and they're fine. But then again, my tank doesn't seem like it has or will cycle at all (but thats another story).
